Here We Go…. Off to Neverland!
I’m not quite sure what I will do with this, but I’ll do my best. I think that if I’m asking you to spend time with me, dear reader, that you must know about me, at least a little. I go by Tarynn here on the net, and I live in Utah. I got my batchelor’s in secondary education with an english focus, and so I’m trying to become an english teacher with a classroom of my own, which is harder than it sounds, no thanks to this economy. So for now I’m just a lowly substitute teacher, which does have it’s perks. I get to simply walk in and do what I love, teaching, and I don’t have to make lesson plans of my own or worry too much about dealing with bad kids again if I get any. I want a class of my own, but in the meantime subbing is fun.
I have loved Books since I was young. I grew up on Fairy tales, fantasy and Science Fiction. My absolute favorite book in all the world is Wizard’s First Rule. Books have been my friends through the difficult high school years. I was known as “The lady with all the books” in high school because I always had one or two paperbacks with me along with all my schoolbooks. Only one boy in my English class, Chad Woodard, understood why I liked books so much. He said “It’s because you think life is boring,” and he was right. What else can you say about living in a small town where the only real entertainment was drinking, but you didn’t want to drink and you were constantly made fun of by your peers. No wonder I wanted to escape, and the only affordable way to do it was through books.
Movies, I’ve also loved for a long time. My dad is a big movie buff and it rubbed off on me. I love the excitement of walking into the theater, taking your seat and waiting for the lights to dim and the enchantment to begins. Loving fantasy and science fiction books as I do, I tend to watch movies in the same vein, although it’s only recently that such movies have truly been made or taken seriously.
Video games and anime are a recent passion of mine. I got into anime seriously while in college, and the love of it has stayed with me. I find anime to be a beautiful art form. Video games, I grew to like after I met my husband, and both of us have become gamers. I mostly like RPGs, due to my lack of coordination, but I’ll occasionaly play a platformer.
So, loving all these things as I do, I’m going to dedicate this to reviewing the things I like. Books, Anime, Movies, and Video games. You’ll see a smattering of all of these things here. I’ll try to write each week, and we’ll see what happens with this little blog. I might even tell you a little more about myself , so here we go!
